Shekel, Dollar Rise on Bad Day for Euro


The official value of the shekel rose an average of .381 percent, Thursday, against most of the commonly-listed currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.854, up .182 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro fell 1.019 percent to 4.9462 shekels. The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.9855, down .308 percent, while 100 Japanese yen slipped .032 percent to 5.0137.

The Danish krone fell 1.027 percent to NIS .6651 while the Swiss frank was fixed at 4.0592, down .995 percent. A .991 percent drop by the South African rand brought it to .4696 shekels and the Australian dollar declined .714 percent to NIS 3.9473
