Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest gains in early trading, Monday morning. Twenty minutes into the start of business, the TA composite index stood at 984.88, up .34 percent from Sunday's close. The same percentage gain made for a posting of 993.73 for the TA 100, including a quarter of a percent rise by the Maof 25 most widely invested issues to 1,101.92.
Leading the gains were the communications stocks at 778.35, up seven tenths of a percent, followed by the oil and gas index, which rose .41 percent to 1,190.48. With insurance issues rising .33 percent to 1,040.72, the financial institutions stood at 886.88, up .09 percent, despite a two tenths of a percent decline by the bank stocks to 945.12. The real estate index rose .18 percent to 271.37, just ahead of most of the technology index, which stood at 276/13, up .17 percent, while the biomed issues slipped .05 percent to 722.40
