Fatah to Start Boycott of Israeli Goods Next Week

The Fatah movement of Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas announced, Sunday, that it will start boycotting Israeli goods, next week. A senior member of the movement told the PA's WAFA news agency said Fatah was spurred to prefer goods made in the PA-assigned areas by what he called monthly threats by Israeli cabinet ministers not to transfer tax funds to the PA.

While the source said one of the goals is to hurt the Israeli suppliers, Fatah spokesman Osama Kawasme said the preference for PA products will translate to more local jobs. He added that standards on local products and imports will be made more stringent and that import duties would be raised.
