Only Some IDF Training Bases to be Open to Hikers

The Spokesperson's Office of the Israel Defense Forces warned hikers on Thursday to be careful near IDF training areas during the Hanukkah school vacation because exercises will take place, including drills with live ammunition. Some training areas in the north, center, and south of the country will be open to hikers, but they should follow the instructions of military personnel as well as those printed on maps for hikers.

The Spokesperson's Office said all entries must be coordinated made with written confirmation. Entry without written confirmation is illegal and could threaten the lives of the hikers. The office also warned against entry where warnings are posted, especially yellow signs and those with red triangles marking mine fields.
