Most of the major indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest to moderate losses at the start of trading on Tuesday. Only the oil and gas index was up, rising .23 percent to 1,187.65. The TA composite index slipped .51 percent in initial trading to 979.51, while the TA 100 opened at 986.31, down .53 percent, including a four-tenths of a percent drop to 1,094.75 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
With the insurance index falling 1.4 percent to 1,024.79, the financial institutions opened at 897.12, down .39 percent, including a quarter of a percent drop by the bank stocks to 970.31. The communications issues declined 1.22 percent to 774.09 and the real estate index opened at 267.68, down .09 percent. The biomed stocks slipped .06 percent to 727.04, while the rest of the technology index opened at 274.28, down seven tenths of a percent.
