The junior teaching staff in most of Israel's universities have walked off the job, with 8,000 of the 10,000 staff going on strike Sunday. Staff at all schools, except for the Technion and Bar Ilan University, have gone on strike.
The strikers are demanding that their contracts be renegotiated. They claim they are being employed on a contract basis, without pensions and at low wages. Many of the staff claim they cannot support their families on the wages they currently earn.
