Lahav Fund: Put Yourself in Religous Soldiers' Shoes

The Lahav Fund, which promotes Judaism within the Israel Defense Forces, has come out in support of soldiers who face disciplinary action for walking out on vocal performances by women, which some sources view as immodest. Rabbi and reserves colonel Avshalom Katzir published a statement asking the Israel Defense Forces to take the soldiers' perspective into consideration, noting that the performances were not operational activities and that the events were not cancelled due to the walkout of the soldiers.

The statement asks what has changed since a time when military authorities did take the sensitivities of religious soldiers into consideration, and asks them to do so in the future, so as not to pose a dilema to the religious soldier and and to foster togetherness in the military community.
