Dollar Outpaces Other Currencies


The official value of the shekel declined an average of .332 percent, Friday against most of the currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.771, up .802 percent from Thursday's rate, while the Euro rose.244 percent to 5.0201 shekels, amid a lack of unity at the European Central Bank meeting in Brussels.

The pound sterling was set at NIS 5.8888, up .284 percent, while the Japanese yen rose .341 percent, 100 yen buying 4.8558 shekels. The South African rand fell 1.408 percent to NIS .4553 while the Australian dollar was set at 3.8025 shekels, down 1.216 percent, and the Canadian dollar declined .658 percent to NIS 3.6812.
