The Chief Rabbi of Paris, Rabbi David Mashash, has passed away. He was the son of Rabbi Shalom Mashash, the former Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. Rabbi David Mashash passed away at age 77, after a lengthy illness. His funeral is to be conducted later Sunday.
Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger said that “Rabbi Mashash was a superior educator, doing his utmost to teach students. He was extremely knowledgable in Jewish philosophy, and in recent years was able to establish a magnificent synagogue in honor of his father. His death is a great loss to the Jewish community of Europe.”
