Kara: Make Yom Ha'atzma'ut Later This Year

Deputy Minister for the Development of the Negev and Galilee, Ayoub Kara, has called on the Prime Minister and Defense Minister to make Israel Independence Day one day later. According to Kara, the current date set for Yom Ha'atzma'ut, April 26, falls on the same day as the Druze Shu'eib commemoration, and the conflict will prevent many Druze families from properly celebrating Yom Ha'atzma'ut and the Memorial Day ceremonies of the previous day.

“If we move Independence Day back by a day it will allow Druze families who have lost loved ones Israel's wars to properly honor their memory, and allow Jews and Druze to celebrate Independence Day together,” Kara said.
