French President Nikolai Sarkozy on Monday apologized to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for uncomplimentary remarks he made about Netanyahu last week. According to reports, Sarkozy called Netanyahu a “liar” in a conversation he had had with U.S. President Barack H. Obama.
In a letter to Netanyahu, Sarkozy wrote “My dear Binyamin, allow me to express my friendship for you. There is no influence on this friendship from either our divergent viewpoints or the stories that appear in the media,” the letter added.
