Former chairman of the board Eli Hurvitz of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries was hospitalized in serious condition at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, east of Tel Aviv, Sunday evening.

Hurvitz was the chief executive officer of the company between 1976 and 2002. He took a leave of absence more than a year ago because of illness.
