The Jewish Federations of North America's General Assembly, better known as the GA, opened on Sunday in Denver, Colorado.
The GA is the largest Jewish event in the world with 4,000 participants, including heads of federations and communities and Jewish leaders from Israel and around the world. The GA is being attended by the Chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Shaul Mofaz (Kadima). Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was scheduled to attend as well but had to cancel at the last minute for technical reasons.
More than a third of the issues raised this year at the GA will deal directly with Israel.
