Report: Tycoon Not Alone in Funding Cairo Attack

Preliminary results of an official investigation into the recent violent attack on the Israeli embassy in Cairo indicates that Egyptian political concerns paid thugs and incited them to destroy the cement wall around the facility, according to a Tuesday morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio. This was in addition to a Sunday report by the semi-official Al Ahram daily that an Egyptian millionaire paid thousands of dollars to youths to break into the embassy and attack security guards.

It turns out that organizers paid demonstrators to bring down the Israeli flag from atop the embassy. Some eyewitnesses told investigators that the disturbance escalated after some of the protesters mistakenly thought that Egyptian security forces intended to stop the effort.
