Histadrut: Rail Sanctions Possible Starting Wednesday

The Transportation Workers' Union in the Histadrut Labor Federation and the employees' committee of Israel Railways decided, on Sunday, to work as usual until Wednesday, the day of the next scheduled negotiation session with railroad management and the Finance Ministry. The workers could have started sanctions on Sunday, after the district labor court in Tel Aviv decided, on Sunday, not to issue an injunction against sanctions and instructed the two sides to conduct talks for two weeks.

Labor stressed that it would not negotiate the hiring of contract laborers for maintenance of the trains. In a statement, the workers and the union said that if train maintenance is give to an outside contractor, they will have no choice but to take "organizational steps",
