18% More Breslavers Expected to Travel to Uman

Officials at Ben Gurion International Airport expect more than 22,000 hasidim to travel to the Ukrainian city of Uman and pray at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav during the Rosh Hashana Jewish New Year holiday that starts on the evening of September 28th. The "airlift" will comprise 55 flights.

To accomodate the numbers and special needs of the hasidim, special facilities are being set up, including places to pray when groups exceed the size of the airport's synagogues. The security check will be four hours before scheduled takeoff times instead of the usual two.
