Yisrael Beiteinu Demands Meeting on Economic Plan

The Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel is Our Home) party sent a letter, Thursday, to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, demaning an emergency meeting of the socioeconomic cabinet to discuss the socioeconomic plan it presented to the Trajtenberg Committee, which was formed to address issues raised by the current round of social protests.

According to the letter, "The six-billion-shekel program is based on a change of priorities in the state budget without breaking the budget." The program proposes subsidies for day care centers, tracking income tax brackets, finding wasted credits, unemployment benefits for self-employed, handling the housing shortage through government guaranteed mortgages, budgeted construction of assisted living units, and more. It would be financed by changes in the tax system, including a rise in corporate taxes.
