Turkey Gives Israel Until Friday to Apologize

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said, Thursday, that his country will give Israel until Friday to apologize for the deaths of nine Turkish citizens during the 2010 interception of the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara as it attempted to break the Gaza naval blockade. The eight Turks and one Turkish American were killed when Israeli commandos responded to attacks on them as they boarded the ship to divert it away from the Hamas-controlled area.

Davutoğlu told Today's Zaman and Hurriyet Turkey would not stand for another delay in the United Nations report on the incident, which is scheduled to be published Friday night, accompanied by a statement from U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Turkey has threatened to downgrade its diplomatic relations with Israel and take legal action in courts around the world.
