Libya: 50,000 Killed in Uprising

Approximately 50,000 people were killed in Libya in the uprising to oust former leader Muammar Qaddafi, a senior member of the rebel troops said Tuesday, speaking to Reuters. Between 15,000 and 17,000 of the dead were killed in the cities of Misrata and Zlitan, he said.

The figure is based on the assumption that those missing are dead, he explained.
