Arab League Supports Libya Rebels

The Arab League announced Monday afternoon that it was supporting the rebel government that is set to be installed in Libya, after the disappearance of Muammar Qaddafi and the taking of Tripoli by rebel forces. In a statement, Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby said that he “offers his full solidarity with the ongoing efforts under the leadership of the National Transitional Council.”

"This is a historical moment that marks a milestone in the history of the Libyan people. We hope the council's efforts are successful in leading the new phase and protecting the independence, sovereignty and integrity of Libyan lands," the statement added.
