Peres: Israel Seeks Quiet in South

On a tour of Ashdod Monday, President Shimon Peres said that Israel would do whatever it could to ensure that the ceasefire between Israel and Gaza terror groups would continue. Peres said that Israel must, and would, react to terrorist attacks and rocket attacks from Gaza, but that the response to those attacks needed to be “balanced. The response must be strong enough to defend us, but not too strong so as to raise tensions,” Peres said.

Ashdod Mayor Yehiel Lassry, who joined Peres on the tour, said that within weeks an Iron Dome anti-missile system would be deployed in the city.
