Egypt: Not Obligated to Compensate Israel

Egyptian Oil Minister Abdallah Ghorab said, Thursday, that his country was not obligated to compensate Israel for interruptions caused to the supply of natural gas caused by four incidents of sabotage to the pipeline leading to the Jewish state and Jordan, according to the Egyptian newspaper Al-Yaum Al-Saba'. Responding to a demand that Egypt pay Israel eight billion dollars for the disruption in deliveries, he said the interruption was not a government decision but due to circumstances that were thrust on it.

Ghorab stressed Egypt's commitment to talk to all parties to change all agreements to insure Egypt fair prices for the gas it exports.
