      Report: Ministers Seek Steinitz's Resignation

Reports Sunday said that several senior Likud ministers have suggested replacing Yuval Steinitz as Finance Minister, in the wake of protests demanding affordable housing. Ministers told Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over the weekend that firing Steinitz – who, for reasons that are not clear, is seen by the public as the champion of the wealthy – would go a long way to calming the political situation.

Protesters on Saturday night at a large rally in Tel Aviv demanding affordable housing also called for Steinitz to be removed from office, saying that they had lost patience with the government's plan to lower housing prices by reforming building regulations, allowing for quicker and easier construction.
