Kibbutz leaders on Thursday sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, asking him not to make any decisions Thursday that would impact the dairy industry. Leaders of the Kibbutz and Moshav movement met Thursday morning to discuss the possibility that the government would take drastic steps to lower the price of milk products, like opening up the Israeli market to competition, or placing price controls on more dairy products.
The leaders asked Netanyahu not to make any decisions without consulting with them. “Milk production is the main source of income for thousands of families. Any decision will have a major impact on their ability to support themselves. We can reach reasonable decisions through discussion,” the letter said.
