A law passed Wednesday in a third and final Knesset hearing will allow customers paying for services with a monthly bank charge (horaat keva) to select the date of the month on which they want their account to be charged. The law was proposed by MKs Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) and Yariv Levin (Likud).

Customers' choice will be somewhat limited, as companies will be given the option of providing four possible withdrawal dates – each at least six days from the others – and allowing clients to decide which they prefer.

The law will apply to payments for electricity and phone service, but not to city tax and similar fees.
