An Egyptian court extended the remand of American-Israeli citizen Ilan Grapel on Tuesday. Grapel was arrested six weeks ago; his remand was extended for an additional 15 days.

Egypt has accused Grapel of spying on behalf of Israel, a charge doubted by many in Egypt as well as by those who know him.

Grapel met Friday with a United States Embassy representative.
