Syria Denies Iranian Support

A Syrian official in the Petroleum Ministry has denied reports that Iran is planning to financially support the Syrian government, and to provide it with free petroleum.

Several medial outlets had reported that Iran would give Syria $5.8 billion, and 290,000 barrels of oil daily for several months. Iran is known to be strongly supportive of Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, and is believed to have helped Assad violently suppress protests against his regime.
