Attorney's Vered Cohen and Ra'anan Bar asked Transportation and Road Safety Minister Yisrael Katz, on Monday, to act to raise the minimum driving age from 17 to 18. They cited figures showing that 17-year-olds were involved in 71 accidents in 2010. At least six of those accidents were described as especially serious.

The attorneys noted that driving age in a number of countries around the world is 18.
