The official value of the shekel declined by an average of .246 percent Thursday against most of the currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.431, down .175 percent from Wednesday's rate. The Jordanian dinar declined .105 percent to 4.8392.
The Euro rose .508 percent to 4.8636 shekels and the pound sterling was set at NIS 5.5289, up .843 percent. The Swiss france rose 1.681 percent to 4.2093 shekels amid concerns about the government debt crises in the United States and Europe.
