Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai has appealed to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to prevent the demolition of three homes in the village of Migron. “I would like to ask you to avoid, as much as possible, the eviction, demolition and destruction of a Jewish town settled by loyal, law-abiding citizens,” he said.
Yishai gave three reasons to avoid destroying the town. First of all, he said, Israel supported the creation of Migron due to its strategic location and the fact that the land had no previous owners. Secondly, the difference in treatment of those who violate building law in different parts of the country leads to a social and legal imbalance.
And finally, he said, “We need unity among the people of Israel... Expelling families with children from their homes will have a severe effect on moral... and will increase division and push off unity.”
