Professor Zev Sternhell condemned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as a “coward” on Wednesday in an interview with the Knesset Channel. Sternhell was angered by Netanyahu's support for the boycott bill, which prohibits organized campaigns pushing for the boycott of companies due to their location.
“Binyamin Netanyahu knows that this law is a disaster for democracy,” he said. “Dan Meridor knows it and so does Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin. They ran away from the vote or abstained from it, and democracy falls when there are not enough people willing to fight for it and protect it.”
Sternhell is known for his far-left views and at one point faced incitement charges over comments about Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria.
