Plesner: Delay Vote on Boycott Bill

Member of Knesset Yochanan Plesner (Kadima) asked Coalition Chairman Ze'ev Elkin, Sunday evening, to delay, for a week, a vote on Elkin's bill which would deny state contracts to bodies involved in a boycott of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. The request followed a report that Knesset legal advisor Eyal Ynon had issued an opinion that the bill was illegal and would be rejected by the Supreme Court.

Plesner said Knesset members need time to learn the legal and political consequences of the opinion. He added that passage of the bill in its present form would be a blot on Israeli law.
