PA Advisor: No UN Bid if Israel Accepts French Plan

Nimar Hamad, political advisor to Chairman Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, said Thursday evening that the PA will withdraw its bid to unilaterally declare a sovereign state for United Nations recognition in September if Israel agrees to a French initiative calling for opening of negotiations based on a PA state along the boundaries in place before the Six-Day War of 1967, with land exchanges and an end to building in Judea and Samaria.

Interviewed by the PA's Ma'an news agency, Hamad expressed his opposition to a third intifada (Arab uprising), saying it would only serve the interest of Israel.
