A check by the Interior Ministry's Population and Immigration Authority showed, Thursday morning, that more than 1,200 people infiltrated the Sinai border with Israel during the month of June, the highest monthly total since the beginning of 2011.
So far 3,500 people have infiltrated the border, an average of almost 600 a month. Until the release of the latest figures, a barrier being built along the border was given credit for lowering the number of infiltrations.
