While a consumer boycott against cottage cheese has succeeded in lowering prices, the overall struggle against high prices continues, boycott organizer Itzik Alrov said Wednesday, speaking to Army Radio. “The companies see cottage cheese as the goal, and do not understand that it is only a symbol,” he said. “The problem is an entire market where the prices constantly go up... We need a general reduction in prices in the food market, not only for dairy products.”
Alrov expressed satisfaction with results so far. “I am proud to be Israeli today. The consumers showed that they know how to fight for a shared goal.” He called to continue the boycott on cottage cheese, saying, “Until the price of cottage cheese reaches five shekels, there is no need to buy.”
