China has closed off Tibet to foreign visitors, travel industry officials said. Travel agents said they received a written notification that the country would be closed to foreigners until July 26. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Communist rule over Tibet, and Chinese officials are said to fear international protests.

Chinese tourists are not affected by the ban.
