Hareidi Protesters Arrested in Ibtin

About a dozen Hareidi Jews were arrested Sunday morning during a protest against archaeological work at Ibtin in northern Israel, which the protestors claimed violated ancient graves. The group demonstrated for several hours, while archaeologists continued to work. At one point a disturbance broke out and the workers called police, who broke up the demonstration and arrested the protestors, witnesses said.

The archaeologists said that the protestors rioted and damaged equipment. Police said they would be questioned, and charges will be pressed.
