Air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was up 5.47% this past May, as compared to a year earlier, the Airports Authority announced Sunday. Altogether, 8,457 flights carrying 1,006,529 passengers passed through Ben Gurion in May 2011. Of those, 7,576 were international flights, 2.78% more than in May 2010.
Israeli carriers flew 406,958 passengers during the period, 40.43% of them to the U.S. - 0.95% fewer than last year. The destinations that grew the most compared to a year earlier were Ukraine, Cyprus, and Holland.
