Rabbis' Salaries Set
Salaries of rabbis in municipalities and local authorities will be going up in many cases, after a decision by the Knesset Finance Committee Sunday. Rabbis' salaries will be set at 80% of the salary of the rabbinical organization that the rabbi belongs to. The measure applies mostly to rabbis of new communities, who were not covered by previous contracts.
The deal was worked out after several meetings between the Treasury's point man on salary, Ilan Levin, and Religious Affairs Minister Ya'akov Margi.
