Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is being questioned over allegations that he pocketed personal profits in a gas deal Egypt did with Israel. The gas was sold to Israel at a discount, and Egypt lost at least $714 million over the deal. Few details about the deal are known, but high government officials have said that a group controlled by Mubarak bought the gas from local suppliers and sold some of it to Israel, while taking the rest and selling it at an increased price on the local market.

Mubarak is currently in a Sharm el-Sheikh hospital, where he is being questioned.
