At a ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of Natan Sharansky's aliyah to Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that Israel wished to see more democracy in the Arab world. “The stronger the foundations of democracy, the stronger the the foundations of peace,” Netanyahu said.

“Nothing would make us happier than the spread of democracy in this region,” Netanyahu said. “It's good for peace, prosperity and security. We should encourage those who support democracy not only in the Arab world, but especially in Iran, as that country is trying to take advantage of the current situation,” Netanyahu added.
