Israeli Embassies Threatened with Attack

Intelligence information indictes a possible terrorist plot to attack Israeli embassies. Foreign Ministry officials estimated that terrorists were planning the attacks on the anniversary of the death of Imad Mughniyeh.

On Monday, the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan was closed. Officials stated the offices were closed "for technical reasons." Foreign Ministry officials said they may temporarily close other embassies until the threat level is lowered.

Mughniyeh was a senior member of Hezbollah who helped bomb the barracks of the United States Marines in Beirut in 1983. He is also accused of helping bomb the Israeli embassy in Argentina in 1992. He was killed by unknown assailants in 2008.
