Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano of the United States agreed Monday evening on the formation of joint teams from the two countries to study preparedness for terror attacks on air and sea transportation. The study will cover both passenger and freight traffic.

During her visit in Israel, Secretary Napolitano also discussed strengthening strategic cooperation in the field of homeland security with President Shimon Peres. The secretary said, "I am visiting to see that all of the things we are doing in partnership with Israel, from aviation security, to cyber security, to science and technology research that we are undertaking together focused on security, is being done in a productive and robust fashion." The two also discussed the Arab-Israeli peace process.
