Foreign Ministry Workers Break Up Ambassadors Meeting


The Foreign Ministry's worker committee torpedoed Monday's agenda for Israel's ambassadors as they took more severe steps in their protest against a deadlock in negotiations over wages and working conditions. The agenda included a meeting with President Shimon Peres.

To the embassy personnel that showed up, the workers distributed black shirts that read "I'm a poor diplomat." The workers' committee published figures on Monday that show 10 percent of the Foreign Office's employees live under the poverty line while a quarter received a grant to bring their salary up to minimum wage.
