A weekend report in the New York Times said that the CIA had enabled Nazis to immigrate to the U.S. after World War II. The Nazis were used for intelligence gathering against the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. According to the report, the Justice Department tried to keep the effort secret for decades, and only recently a 600 page report on the program came to light.

Among the Nazis the CIA helped were Otto Von Bolschwing, who worked with Adolph Eichmann and helped develop the initial plans “to purge Germany of the Jews,” and Arthur L. Rudolph, a Nazi scientist who helped develop the Saturn V rocket.
