US Magazine: Israel #1 in Real Estate Price Rises

The U.S. publication Global Property Guide has named Israel as the world's leader in real estate price increases. According to the magazine, real estate in Israel has shot up by 32% in the past two years, more than anywhere else.

Earlier this week, both Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz and Bank of Israel chairman Stanley Fischer laid out several proposals to help stem the price increases, as they spoke at an economic forum organized by the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry. Critics said that the proposals were not wide-ranging enough and were unlikely to lower housing prices.
