Police Chase Arab Van That Broke Through Checkpoint

Arabs threw stones at Israeli cars and buses on Road 60 in Gush Etzion Thursday afternoon. An Israeli bus was stoned near the village of Beit Omar, southwest of Bethlehem. No one was injured in that attack. Israeli vehicles were also stoned on the road between Kiryat Arba and the Cave of the Patriarchs. A vehicle was damaged, but no injuries were reported. IDF troops were searching for the culprits.

Also Thursday, a van which turned out to be carrying illegal Arab workers seeking to enter Israel proper broke through a checkpoint on the Jerusalem-Ma'ale Adumim road. The van broke through the checkpoint at high speed, and police began chasing it. At one point in the chase police began firing at the van. The van finally stopped in the village of Isawiya. Four Arabs were arrested, but another four managed to escape.
