PA Pushes Boycott of Rami Levi Stores

The Palestinian Authority said Tuesday that it had traced three instances of food poisoning to products purchased by Arabs in branches of the Rami Levi supermarket chain – and warned all PA Arabs not to shop there. The PA has for many months sought to convince PA Arabs to boycott the chain's stores in Maale Michmash and Kfar Etzion – in vain, so far – and on Tuesday increased its efforts by claiming that families in Ramallah and Bethlehem had complained of “food poisoning” as a result of buying products at Rami Levi markets.

PA officials added that purchasing anything from Rami Levi or any other Israeli business was against PA law, and a violation of the Authority's official business boycott of Israel. “Anyone who makes such purchases puts themselves at risk of questioning and action by police,” the officials said.
