Arabs Attack Jew in Shimon Hatzaddik Neighborhood

A Jewish commuter in the Shimon Hatzaddik neighborhood of Jerusalem was attacked by Arabs who had been eating their post-Ramadan fast meal on the sidewalk. The Jewish man, riding a motorcycle, was attacked by an Arab youth who threw stones at him, and then was attacked by two older Arabs who had been sitting on the sidewalk eating.

The man called police, and an Arab mob appeared to protect the attackers. The Arabs claimed that the Jew had attacked an Arab woman, but security cameras in the area told a different story. When police tried to arrest one of the Arab attackers, he immediately bowed down and started to “pray.” Apparently he was knocking his head on the sidewalk, police said, because when he got up a few minutes later, blood was dripping from his face. He was taken to a nearby hospital, thus avoiding arrest. Police then left, telling the Jewish bike rider to file a complaint. Jewish residents of the neighborhood have complained for years of lax police enforcement, which encourages Arabs to attack them, they said.
