Knesset Member Yossi Peled (Likud) spoke at the book launch of Taboo by Martha Miriam Kleiman, which discusses children in the Holocaust. Peled said the book mirror's his own life, as well as that of the author. Like the main character if the book, he never spoke about his childhood experiences in the Holocaust.
Peled was born Jeffke Mendelevich in Belgium and raised by a Christian family until the age of 6. His mother, the only one to survive the Holocaust took him to Israel. At the book signing, he said that he sought to be seen as the toughest kid and hid his background.
